MY POSTS FROM THE HEART
It’s been a while since I shared some shoots with you (I’ve been busy getting married myself! A blog on that coming soon.) But I’m back to show some images from an engagement shoot with the lovely Georgie and Alex. Alex is one of my wife (still getting used to saying it!) Fiona’s friends from school and they kindly asked me to photograph their wedding in November and I was honored to accept!
I’ve wanted to do a couple shoot in Woodhall Spa for sometime and given it’s fairly close to where they spend time at their holiday home I suggested a spot to meet and we were blessed with some lovely weather for the shoot (this was almost the end of summer)
We started in the woods near the Petwood Hotel. I’d taken some photos there in the past during the 1940’s weekend that happens every year so I knew there was some great opportunities in there and that’s where we got these images of the two of them sat on the log. Both Georgie and Alex were great in front of the camera. Despite being nervous before we started they soon settled into the shoot and we got some great images of them holding each other.
After leaving the woods we walked down the road out of Woodhall Spa to where the fields of Lincolnshire opened up and I decided it would be great to use the road in the composition as we were on a long and straight section that stretched into the distance. It took a couple of goes as we were waiting for cars to pass by but it was the effort!
As we headed back I thought it was time to use the cars passing for some composition. I dialed in the settings to capture the motion of the car and after a couple of tries got the shot. Sometimes photography is all about learning to use what’s around you to craft something great and being ready to change to capture things at the right moment. That’s what photographing weddings is all about.
Georgie and Alex get married later this month and it’s going to be a great day. A barn wedding with a Christmas theme! Look out for the images very soon!
